What is this? No vlog? Guys, trust me, you don’t want to see my face today. *shakes fist at laser eye surgeon*
First of all, I want to extend a hearty congratulations to the winner of our first ever giveaway, Danielle! Well done, you’ve won an enviable pile of books. I was half-tempted to enter myself, insert-evil-laugh-here.
Now, on to business. I’ve had another pathetic week writing wise, but it was because of a major snag in my story. After a certain point was achieved, I had a lot of space to fill and very little to fill it with. My story is taking place over an academic year, and I filled the first term with so much that the second term was yawning at me. Luckily, I was able to identify the problem, and I know how to fix it. Unfortunately, it means removing one character and introducing him at a later point on the calendar, which means I’ll have to do more rewriting that I originally hoped. I’m also beginning to think that the goal of finishing by the end of the year was a bit of a stretch, but I’m not going to quit now. I’m going to persevere and try to finish the thing, or get as near to finished as possible. It’s just a bad time of year to try such an ambitious project – Christmas is sucking my time away. Don’t feel too bad, I’m the Christmassiest person you’ve ever met. Seriously, I’m up there with Buddy the Elf.
I hope you’ll indulge me being irritatingly mysterious for a moment, but I needed to put this somewhere that I can pull from in the future. When I have weeks when I feel like it will never happen, and that I’m a useless writer, and that even if I do get published I’ll fail, I want to remember having a moment this week where I felt so happy with my story, and my progress, and my journey. I want to remember that the idea I have is good, and that other people think so, too.
I feel bad for not giving you something to look at and forcing you to actually read my words, so here are some talking animals for your amusement. Maybe later we can have a game of nighttime daytime?
