Happy Media Monday!
I have been so looking forward to this since we established wanting to do these so I hope you enjoy what I’ve got to share! I’ve talked before about how music is kind of like my muse when it comes to writing. I have to have it, otherwise I start losing focus and my mind wanders, so I have a habit of making playlists for all of my projects with specific songs that inspire specific scenes. This helps me get motivated, no matter where I’m working in the project, and also helps me get into my characters’ heads as the song choices are not only inspired by my setting but also by what the characters themselves would choose, as well.
So, anyway, all of that being said, I thought I’d give you guys a few of the playlists I’ve come across that I’ve personally enjoyed (though I have too many favorites to limit it to these). The first two are for writing, in general. The second two are fandom specific and the last one is my personal playlist for my current work in progress!
1. Write Drunk, Edit Sober
Contrary to its name, it’s actually an instrumental playlist with scores from moves and tv shows, et cetera that are good for when I’m writing particularly intense scenes for which it doesn’t help having lyrics playing in my ears.
2. Writing: Dystopia and War
One of my backburner projects is a dystopian fic and I’m a huge fan of dystopia, in general. That’s mostly why I picked this one out but also most of these artists tend to inspire me in whatever genre I’m writing. They’re feelsy, if you know what I mean.
This book is hands down my favorite of Rainbow Rowell’s and I love the characters in it. After I read it the first time, I listened to Fangirl-inspired mixes nonstop for a month. This one is pretty good, too, but there are lots of equally excellent options on 8tracks!
4. Divergent Fanmix
Everyone knows that my obsession is Divergent so I kind of had to share this with you guys. Love it. It also inspires in the same way #2 does. It gives me feelings. Don’t listen if you don’t want spoilers!
And last but not least…
5. Adeline’s Playlist
Adeline’s story has no title yet but she definitely has a playlist. I love it and every time I listen to it, I just want to sit down and write it.
What are your favorite playlists? Do you make them for your projects? Share them in the comments below 🙂
Until next time, Adventurers-
