now deeper the water i sail
and faster the current i’m in
that each night brings the stars
and the song in my heart
is a tune for the journeyman’s tale
This month I’ve made some great progress on my WIP, Illuminate.
I’ve done over ten extra scenes and character exercises, including a few enlightening pieces from my antagonist’s POV. I’ve got decent drafts of the first two chapters, plus a synopsis and outline sketches. I’ve delved into research and made headway learning more about my characters’ world.
In the next month, I want to work deeper into the story itself and continue to flesh out story arcs. I also want to do some more hands-on research in Cambridge and London. Goal: At least 20,000 words of actual draft material, plus a field trip to the Fitzwilliam Museum and British Library.
Perl put the shell to her ear and closed her eyes. The sound was like the sea, and she curled her knees up to her chest, blocking everything else in the world out—the noise of the girls getting ready for bed, the noise of her own thoughts, everything. She wanted the sea, and nothing more, and nothing less.
