Happy New Years, everyone!
This is just a quick update from me tonight, because of the night that’s in it, so let’s get down to the bare facts:
- I WROTE! Oh, how glorious. I wrote an actual amount of words that I am happy with. Not just planning, but actual novel content. It still puts me way off target, but I’m so happy with the quality of what I have. I was worrying over it as I was writing it, so swapped some words with Jenny, who put my mind at ease.
- Speaking of writing – I did the majority of my words this week through doing word sprints over on our twitter account. It was such a success that we’ve decided to make this a regular feature, so join the team for writing sprints by following our twitter account. We’ll all write together!
- And while we’re on the topic of social media awesomeness, our tumblr is open for submissions. If you’d like to submit some useful piece of info you found, or share with us how you’re doing on your noveling adventure, that is your platform to do so.
- Lastly, FORFEITS! Dun dun DUUUN! This is how they will work:
If an adventurer fails to update once a week, and/or doesn’t write in that week, they will be given a prompt by another adventurer and will have to write 500-1000 words on that prompt. The kicker is, they have to post what they write on their blog by their next check-in, for all the internet to see! That ought to keep us in line…
On that slightly sinister note – NEIL, are you reading? I’m not entirely sure if you met your goa
l or not, but if you didn’t, here is your prompt, as generated by Adam Maxwell’s prompt generator.
WRITE 500-1000 WORDS EITHER BEGINNING WITH OR INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING SENTENCE: He never let his lack of knowledge hold him back on any subject
I look forward to seeing what you come up with. Elle, I am not so looking forward to seeing what prompt you give me! Please be kind, remember our fun on NaNoWordSprints!
Happy writing, everyone, and Happy New Year! I hope this is the year where we all write to our hearts content, and great things happen for us.
